The condenser of a microscope is the optical part that is used to correct the divergence of light rays.

In an optical microscope the condenser is a lens that serves to correct the divergence of light rays emitted by a point light source, for example a light bulb.

The condenser creates parallel beams of light that evenly illuminate the sample.
