The
Celestron CGEMII Edge HD 8 " Telescope is a computerized telescope with the new CGEM II mount and 8"
Edge HD optical
tube with fully
aplanatic optics. This telescope is shaping up to be the ideal tool for the
astrophotographer .
The 8 "aperture,
203mm , is considered as a first option to start observing the maximum detail of
the deep sky and also of planets. The power of light collection is
800 times higher than that of the human eye, in a high equipment range and the
lightest on the market.Their focal length is 2032mm and the focal ratio is
1/10 , and a reduction of f / 7 can be obtained with a
focal reducer .
Celestron's
aplanatic Edge HD optics ensure a flat field of view without aberration.
Star Bright XLT coatings provide you with maximum
sharpness, contrast and image
definition for absolutely clear viewing and a photographic plane
without aberrations . This sharpness and focus of the image is preserved to the edge of the optics or plane, all of them
comma-free , and allows observation and photography without losing any detail, even in the weakest stars close to the meridian.
The
optical tube , entirely made of high quality aluminum, has a weight of
6.35kg , incorporates a
40mm focal length 51X eyepiece and a
9x50mm finder. In its rear part it has grooves that work as a vent and refrigerator, for the release of air behind the primary mirror, without letting dust enter the optical tube. The
mirrors have a very stable support, which reduces any movement or displacement of the image during obtaining and processing.
Flexible clutches hold the mirror in place and reduce image movement when taking long-exposure photos. Once in focus, the flexible rods allow the mirror to stay in place without adding force or pressure to the mirror assembly, keeping the
image centered on the eyepiece (or sensor).
The frame coupling structure is the
dovetail CGE. The Celestron
CGEM II mount is the evolution of the original CGEM, an equipment designed to support optical tubes
up to 11 ", guaranteeing efficient and vibration-free tracking.
Its
load capacity is up to 18kg (40lb) and includes a
steel tripod with graduation to facilitate quick leveling. The thickness of the legs, 2 "guarantee maximum
stability to the equipment, once assembled and ready for observation.
The
innovation and evolution of this frame rests first of all on the great improvement of its
design , more ergonomic, with buttons for adjusting the altitude and alzimuth, large and very manageable, capable of achieving rapid and precise
alignment and orientation.
Internal wiring provides a much cleaner and more practical appearance. It includes
mechanical improvements also in the clutch levers, longer to facilitate tightening and loosening, as well as improvements in
gears and ball bearings. All this to guarantee a
finer and more precise follow-up .
The next stage of evolution of this mount is the
ALL-STAR alignment procedure, with it you can align the team with any star in the sky. The
permanent correction of the periodic error , is one of the most appreciated characteristics by
astrophotographers , it is the key for the monitoring to guarantee the best possible captures. Another great advantage for astrophotographers is that tracking beyond the meridian ensures
uninterrupted imaging at those points just
near the meridian .
The mount's
database has more than
40,000 objects , of which 100 can be programmed by the user and 200 present updated and improved information.
