"Clinometer" is a word that derives from 2 Greek words that mean "tilt" and "measure". It is a topographic instrument used to measure the slope of a terrain, as well as vertical angles, calculate heights and draw lines of a certain slope on the ground. At RAIG we work with the Suunto brand so that your clinometer is of the best quality:
Clinometers are very useful tools for geologists and surveyors. They have to know the slope of the land for their surveys or to make a detailed analysis of the layers and strata that make up the soil and rocks.
The work with a clinometer is accompanied by a compass, precisely to know where the folds are oriented, and for example where a beta of a certain mineral is oriented.
They are portable and handheld equipment, suitable for field work. In geology practice, the equipment is completed with a compass, a geologist's hammer and a codington magnifying glass.
