The physicist Galileo Galilei discovered that the density of a liquid varies according to the temperature of each moment.
This famous glass thermometer composed of glass balls inside vary in weight and density, so that the lowest ball that floats in the upper part of the column will be the correct temperature.

Each ball has a plate engraved with the temperature corresponding to the density of the liquid.
