EQ8 SynScan mount is the strongest mount in the entire SkyWatcher range. It is a
GOTO equatorial mount, specially indicated to mount the heaviest and most complete optical tubes, in order to build a
prestigious astronomical observatory .
Its load capacity amounts to
50kg , capable of supporting the heaviest and largest diameter optical tubes, with the security of maximum stability and unmatched precision in movement. It can be mounted on a column or tripod, although in this case it comes with a
tripod as standard. The
SynScan system allows the storage of up to
42,000 celestial reference
points . And its library also includes information on more prominent celestial objects, such as asteroids and comets.
It includes the
permanent correction of the periodic error and also the possibility of
calibrating it. The mark or index on the AR crown makes it possible to know the position of the crown at all times.
With the patented
fredoom find (dual-encoder) technology, the telescope can be moved either manually or electronically on both axes and without losing information on its position or alignment. After moving to point at a new object, the telescope will
automatically start
tracking the new object precisely. It will not be necessary to realign the telescope throughout the observation session. The AR and DEC encoders allow you to use the mount manually but without losing alignment at any time.
The EQ8 mount comes equipped with a
SNAP port that can control the camera's shutter. Working with the "camera control" function of the SynScan remote control, the user can program the time of the exposures when he is doing astrophotography. In addition it also incorporates
HOME sensors or
automatic sleep function.
