Digital Infrared Thermometers - Infrared thermometers measure temperature using radiation emitted by objects.
An infrared thermometer is a temperature gauge for a portion of an object's surface from the black-body-type light it produces. By knowing the amount of energy emitted by an object, and its emissivity, its temperature can be determined.
Generally speaking, the method involves measuring the light energy (found in the IR band) with a detector that converts it into an electrical signal. This method allows the temperature to be measured remotely, unlike other types of thermometers such as thermocouples that need to be in contact with the element from which the temperature is being measured.
These thermometers are widely used in the industrial and food sector, the fact that no direct contact is needed makes work more comfortable and safe.
