Much of the "blame" undoubtedly lies with Leica, the popular German company dedicated to the manufacture of precision optical instruments. Not surprisingly, more than twenty-five years ago, it introduced the world's first handheld laser distance meter to the market. In this case, it gives birth to the Leica Disto X4, and, how could it be otherwise, it does so by presenting it as the first laser distance meter on the market with an integrated photo camera. In this way, by transforming the Disto X4 into said 3D measuring station, it is possible, for example, to measure roof or façade surfaces, make 3D drawings or calculate, from one position, each distance between two random points.
Other outstanding features are absolute precision, thanks to distance and inclination measurements, when determining horizontal distances, automatic generation of realistic and scale floor plans from measurement data, as well as the great function Smart Room, within the device application, with which the mapping of the maps can be done easily and uniquely. Another interesting and very useful point in its favor is its great robustness: the Disto 4X has been tested through drops of up to 2m in height. In addition, it is protected from dust and contact with water, as certified by its IP65 classification.
