Nikon has revolutionized the industry with the Nikon Fieldscope EDG telescope thanks to the innovative VR vibration reduction system . The sophisticated VR mechanism is produced by lens shift, compensating with great precision for vibrations caused by wind and other uses such as simply focusing or tracking. In this way, we will obtain stable images by reducing the vibrations to approximately 0.015 of the image blur caused by the vibrations of normal observation. This aspect is also highly appreciated in Digiscoping as it improves focus precision and the VR effect provides an effect equivalent to a two-step faster shutter speed being especially appreciated in windy environments.
At the optical level, the Fieldscope EDG VR have Nikon's prestigious ED glass , obtaining extreme clarity, luminosity and color reproduction. Built with a roof prism with phase correction coating and multilayer coated lenses we obtain high resolution images . In the case of the straight version, the roof prism is equipped with a highly reflective multi-layer dielectric coating for a brighter view.
The body of the telescope is both elegant and robust. It is waterproof up to 2m for 10 minutes and is purged in nitrogen to prevent fogging of the lenses. The body does not support rotation, it has 3 threaded tripod holes for a better balance of the weight in the mount and it contains a parasol . It has 7 optional optional eyepieces for the EDG 85 VR series : 20x W, 30x W, 38x W, 50x W, 75x W, 20-60x and 25x LER.
