In a microscopy preparation we need two basic elements. The slide and the coverslip.
The slides are thin sheets of glass on which the samples or preparations are placed, which are later intended to be analyzed and observed under a microscope. For its part, the coverslip is a very thin square or rectangular plate (and transparent, since it is usually made of glass or specialized plastic), which is placed on the sample and the slide. It serves to fix the sample and prevent it from moving out of our observation range.
