8-inch 1200 focal length Dobsonian telescope with Starsense Explorer technology so you can navigate from your smartphone to any point in the sky in seconds and make deep sky and planetary observations - it's never been easier!
Astronomical observation has never been easier or faster with the new Celestron Starsense Explorer series of telescopes. Thanks to the use of the Celestron app connected to the telescope, any user, whether a child or an adult, can use the telescope with or without astronomical knowledge.
Celestron launches a revolutionary new series of telescopes, the StarSense Explorer. With these new telescopes and the StarSense Explorer smartphone app you can achieve perfect alignment in as little as 2 minutes. This method, until now associated with computerised telescopes, has never been successfully tested on manually operated telescopes until the arrival of the new StarSense Explorer range.
The operation of this system is incredibly simple, the user must place their phone in the smartphone holder included with the telescope, start the application, and from there align the telescope following the simple steps that the application will mark. Once we have aligned the telescope in a matter of seconds or minutes, the application will offer us a list with photos and descriptions of the most visible objects from our observation point. When we select one of them, it offers us more information about the object and by means of a button we can give it the order to help us look for the object. Immediately a planisphere opens with an orange arrow indicating the direction in which we have to direct the telescope until we reach the object. Once we move the telescope, the movement is updated in real time and when we approach the object, a reticle opens and turns green once we are on top of the object and ready to observe it through the eyepiece.
The Dobson Celestron StarSense Explorer 8" 203/1200 is a model that marks a before and after in the initiation of observation thanks to its large diameter and brightness of the tube. Due to its 1200 mm focal length we will be able to make great lunar and planetary observations but where we will get the most out of the telescope is in deep sky observation with galaxies and nebulae. It has a solid altazimuth base with large diameter altitude bearings with variable tension, Teflon azimuth bearings and reinforced side panels for extra stability (unlike most 8" Dobsonian bases).
Included in the kit is the Newton Dobson Starbright XLT 203mm (8"), 1200mm focal length (f/5.9) optical tube, Dobson base and mount with fine movement, 25mm (48x) eyepiece and Starpointer red light finder, 2" Crayford focuser, eyepiece holder and collimation cap. Also included is the smartphone holder to enable use of the Starsense Explorer app.
