This compass has a suspension system called Cardan. Thanks to this system, when there was a tide and therefore the normal pocket compasses did not work because the inclination of the compass due to the storm itself made it impossible, the former were always in a horizontal position regardless of the position of the ship.
This instrument is completely handmade, bathed in bronze and made of a metal called pewter, resistant to sudden changes in temperature.
It comes presented in a wooden box with nautical motifs and a small guide with instructions for use.
