There are several types of rangefinders: optical, ultrasonic and laser. The most modern are lasers and tend to be those with the highest precision and range that can reach measurement distances of over 1000 meters. They operate on battery or batteries and can serve both as an optical, prismatic or monocular instrument, and as a rangefinder.
We can find monocular and binocular rangefinders, the latter being more expensive but more visually comfortable. Monoculars usually have less than 8x to gain stability while we can find binocular rangefinders with up to 12x. They are usually used basically for the practice of hunting, golf, navigation and forestry.
