Counterweights intended to stabilize the German equatorial mounts of astronomical telescopes.

Equatorial mount counterweights are key to stabilizing the mount by counteracting the weight of the optical tube and other telescope accessories. If you are carrying extra weight to the set, you will need more weight in order to stabilize the total load.
If the value of the counterweight is not adequate, the movement and tracking of the telescope will be incorrect and the observation will be poor.
